The Ornament Connection - Local Hallmark Ornament Collecting Club

FUNDRAISERS

Ain't it always the same...seems like you always need money for something. Hallmark collectors clubs are no different. Maybe you need some things for the club or you might be raising money for your club's favorite charity. But any way you look at it your club is going to eventually need some money in the treasury; and between you and me, sometimes those membership dues just aren't enough. Here are some ideas to consider when it comes time for your club to raise a little "moolah."

  • Pound Auction Have everyone donate an item. Each item must weigh in at one pound. Have each person donating wrap their items so that you are unable to tell what the item is. Then auction the items off.

  • Cup Auction - (Donna S - VA) Place an empty cup in front of all items to be "auctioned" off. Sell "chances" for example you might sell 20 chances for $2.00. Now bidders can take their chances and "bid" on the items they want. For example you might put all 20 chances into one cup for that one item, or you could put 10 chances in one cup and 5 in another and 5 in another. Auctioneer draws one name from the cup and that's the winner. Repeat for each item.

  • 50/50 Drawing - (Diane Z - WI) You buy chances for $1 each at begining of meeting. Treasurer counts it all up and puts half back for some lucky individual. someone pulls the ticket and announces the winner. other half goes to treasury/charity.

  • Admission - Charge admission to special club events such as club swap meets or club auctions.

  • Auctions! - Have members and/or sponsors (and whoever else you can find) donate items for a club auction. Don't forget to also raise a little money from admission fees for the event. <g>

  • Raffle some ornaments - signed or unsigned ornaments make great raffle items, make up some raffle tickets and sell 'em. Remember you don't have to limit yourself to Hallmark ornaments either. If you've got a really popular item to raffle consider asking your sponsoring store to sell tickets to non club member customers in the store as well.

  • Lapel pins, lapel pins, lapel pins! There are lots of lapel pin collectors out there. Be sure to carry those pins with you to all the secondary shows and Hallmark events you attend. Hey and don't forget to advertise here on The Ornament Connection too!!

  • Cookin' with Collectors - Put on those chef's hats, write down some recipes and put together a club cookbook! Come on, you know that everyone likes to eat!

  • Hold a Bakeless Bake Sale -

  • A bit of news we have today...
A BAKELESS BAKE SALE is on the way.
In these busy days, who wants to bake,
A pie or cookies or even a cake.

You’d be surprised if you counted the cost,
of ingredients, heat, and the time you’ve lost.
Baking for sales is extra work.
Yet nobody really wants to shirk.

So we’ve thought of a plan that’s really grand,
and feel quite sure you’ll understand.
In an envelope, if you like, please include the price...
of a pie or cake or anything nice.

Without fuss or bother, you’ve done your part.
We hope you’ll give with a willing heart.
Wishing success for our BAKELESS BAKE SALE,
This is the end of our little tale.
