The
Same Game - Prior to the meeting go through
the current Dreambook and find pairs of
ornaments that have something in common. (ex.
Both have Christmas in the name. Both
sculpted by Don Palmiter. Both on same page
of the Dreambook.) Make a list of these
different pairs.
Have each club member bring their Dreambook
or provide members with a Dreambook at the
meeting. Go through the list having members
try and figure out how each pair is the same.
Be prepared as members may find other
similarities than what you picked.
Christmas
Tree Toss - How about taking a large
cardboard box or foam board and painting or
cutting it into a Christmas Tree Shape? Cut
round holes out on the tree and make each
hole worth points. Get nerf balls. Members
throw balls into the holes on tree. Highest
scores win. Tree would have to stand up,
that's why maybe a large appliance box with
tree decorated on one side would work fine.

Follow
the Leader - Prior to the meeting - write out
a list of different ornaments. Then cut them
out into small slips of paper.
Ask for a leader. Have the leader draw one
slip of paper. Now the leader is allowed to
choose one word from the ornament name to
tell his team. After saying that one word
he/she is not allowed to speak. Players can
ask yes/no questions to be answered with a
nod or a shake. Charade type gestures are
allowed from the leader. You could use an egg
timer to set a time limit if needed. Each
player takes turns at being the leader. Vary
some of your ornaments so that some quick
thinking individuals will be able to guess
the ornament name from just the one word.
Winner could be the player that gets the most
correct.
Shout
it Out - Before the meeting, write out a
list of ornaments. Break each name down into
syllables - (ex. The Christ mas Stor y) Try
to keep in mind the number of players
expected.
At the meeting divide your group into teams.
Taking turns one team will "shout it
out" and the other team will try to
determine what they are saying.
Assign each player on the team a syllable to
shout. (ex. player 1 says "The",
player 2 says "Christ", player 3
says "mas", etc) The hard part is
that everyone says their word at once. The
guessing team must try to listen closely to
hear each word or syllable and then piece
them together to come up with the name of the
ornament. The team with the most correct
answers wins.
Gotcha
- As each
member arrives give him/her a penny (or
safety pin, or checker, anything small).
After all members are present announce the
"gotcha" phrase, word or action.
For example, crossing legs. Any time someone
gets caught crossing their legs the first
person to yell gotcha, gets to take that
persons penny or pennies (or whatever you're
using). Person with the most pennies at the
end wins.
What's
That - Have
some ornaments on hand. Each player takes a
turn at feeling the ornament. You could blind
fold the player or make them feel it behind
their back or have a box with two holes cut
into the front for players to put their hands
inside, just so they can't see the ornament.
The player then guesses what the ornament is.
O-R-N-A-M-E-N-T-S
- Make
sure each player has a piece of paper and a
pen or pencil. Have each player write down
the name of an ornament on the top line of
their paper. Now tell them to make as many
words as possible from that ornaments name.
Can't change ornament names. Players with the
most words win.
What
Ornament Am I - Write the name of different
ornaments on 3x5 index cards, another
variation is to cut out pictures from the
dreambook and use the pics. Pin one card to
each players back. Each player will then have
to ask questions of other players to
determine what ornament they are. First one
to figure it out wins
The
Price is Right - Hold up an ornament. Have
players guess the box price or the current
secondary value according to a specific price
guide. Player closest to actual price wins.
Hallmark
Bingo - Prior to the meeting:
1. Make a list of about 30 or so Hallmark
ornaments. Make enough copies for each
member. Use one copy to cut up for names to
draw and call out, place these in a container
from which you can "draw" at the
meeting.
2. Draw out a Bingo grid (with no free space)
- make enough copies for each member.
At the Meeting:
1. Everyone gets a copy of the list of
ornaments and a Bingo grid.
2. Have each player, write names of ornaments
on their cards, choosing randomly from the
list provided.
3. The "caller" should then draw
and call out the names of the ornaments, -
hey it's just like BINGO - but it's better!
It's Hallmark Bingo!
